The new infant center “Piccoli e Grandi” is located on the mezzanine floor of a complex, built between 1949 and 1954 in Via Calatafimi by the architect Caccia Dominioni; is run by Spazio Pensiero’s Cooperative Onlus.
The project, an extension of the existing structure, allows for the realization of the nursery school and the redevelopment of the kindergarten.
MTA oversaw the design and the implementation of spaces and an original set of furniture for children. Areas for teaching experiences and play have been identified and thanks to a flexible use of space, can be used from both the Nursery and the kindergarden. Compared to the existing, the new school is configured as a sequence of simple spaces, separated by partitions and furniture allowing the enclosure of more intimate spaces.
