In the broader complex of “Villa Fastiggi” this building represents the most specialized part; it will host three different healthcare facilities: a Residential Health Centre with 50 seats, a Protected Residence with 90 beds, and a clinic that supports these structures and the neighborhood. According to the provisions of the Plan, the building must have different shapes on its north-west and south-east faces. The north-west face overlooks the large “square” of the community, whereas, on the other hand, the south-east front faces a large piece of green land. It therefore seemed natural to characterize the building, differentiating the two sides: a strongly urban character for the north-west side and – made possible by the variety of different levels – a greater openness to nature of the south. Even the interiors reflect these two ideal conditions: towards the city, exchange and sociability, towards the countryside, contemplation and rest.
