Badia di Squaneto (AL), "Villa Calderaro" - Guesthouse
client/committente: Tania Svetina, Paolo Calderaro, Milano
period/periodo: 2012/2013
project/progetto: MTA AssociatiWhat can be seen of the whole thing is the volume covering the living space with an arched roof finished in zinc and titanium and covered in part by a photovoltaic film that blends perfectly with the natural gradient of the land. Higher up, the building is dug into the earth but opens out further down the slope with a portico and covered terraces. Four skylights allow light in from above.
The ground floor living area with kitchen and bathroom, is accessed from the front via the portico and equipped with two internal staircases that lead to the first level where the bedrooms are found. The large pavilion is also accessible directly from the first level, through two doors and walkways that reach the two units. A greenhouse will be built on the western front, which will also open onto the portico, and will be finished with glass panels. A driveway is planned for the other side to access the underground warehouse were tools and agricultural equipment are stored.
